[302] no tp export

hi,

i fail to export thinking particles (using r15) with the 3.0.2 release of the plug.

- export tp (any simplest setup will do) with plug version 2.7.23 works. shows in studio 2.7.20 as well as 3.0.1.3.
- export tp (exact same scene) with plug version 3.0.2 doesn't. not in the one nor the other studio version.

Thanks, I found it -- it's due to an issue introduced in 3.0.2 when adding support for treating alembic objects as particle geometry.

This is fixed in plugin 3.0.5.

yes, it is. something else is introduced though:
Image

- do a simple tp-setup
- fire-render: fine
- add a cube (or anything) to the scene
- fire-render: weird

i can see that only within c4d-fire.
when i press render instead of fire, everything is being rendered as expected.
also, exorting the scene to studio and rendering it in studio's fire seems to work fine, too.

I'm not seeing that here, but it could depend on several factors (it will be a FIRE-specific engine thing, not a plugin one), so I would appreciate if you could send over your Cinema file, so I can chase it down and report it.

Thanks, I can reproduce the effect using that model.

This turned out to be a Maxwell 3.0.1.0 issue, which will no longer occur with plugin 3.0.6 (since it uses 3.0.1.3 binaries).

I'm not seeing any such problem here, I just re-downloaded all the versions, then unzipped and ran them all successfully.

Ok I've tried other browsers, same result hangs at 99%..

Can you pm me a link?

I have DL the other versions fine, I've been using 3.0.5 today, and it seems that particles are woefully slow to voxelise even at default settings, and using vast amounts of ram... Hope this will be fixed,.. sorry JD, I know its not a plugin issue... but maybe you can pass on my grievance.

This took ten minutes to voxelise and used 11 gigs of ram. That kind of performance means the funtionality is academic. And the user feels cheated... esp. after waiting several years to see it actually work.

Again sorry JD I know its not your fault, I really hope this is my user error or a bug with 3.0.5

I don't actually have any links -- it looks like the download URLs are dynamically generated & activated when you click the blue download button for the plugin version you want. For what it's worth, I'm using Firefox 32.0, on Win 8.1, with no 3rd-party download helpers or antivirus/anti-malware installed.

As far as your comments on particles, are you using particles there, or volumetrics? It looks like volumetrics, in which case, I'd recommend reading the docs, especially regarding the simulation cell size parameter, as I believe that would be the main one involved in causing high memory usage. I am no authority on this, though.

Ok thanks for the tip, I was using volumetrics, I'll read the docs, but I think some demonstration files are needed, seems like loads of settings with cryptic names, with the potential for huge slowdowns.

Just to say I managed to DL the file SUCCESSFULLY from a friends house. Looks like my xp64 PC or my ISP is faulty. Strange that 3.0.5 Downloaded fine before...
