Hi all,

I´m in the middle of a problem that I have no idea how to solve it.
Everytime that I try to make a new material I get a cinema4d.exe error message: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\harddisk3\Dr3.

I´m on C4D R10.1, win 7

I post this here because if I launch MXM material editor or Studio I don´t get this.

Thanks in advace.
JC

There are various ways of making new materials (Cinema's material list menu, the plugin's New Material command, various ways contained in the plugin material editor's Options menu, drag/drop from the Content Browser, MXED browser, or Explorer, etc.) -- could you check if there is any difference between them?

I check it and I get the error everytime, now the material is created at the end after many times the same warning popout, but then when I change the scene preview I get the message again, this doesn´t happen with all of it, just with: floor, leaf, primitives, realscale_material, SSS, sss_small, stage_1, stage_2, and with the default I get another warning: there are no light sources in the scene, amitters, sky, IBL)

The funny thing is that it was working perfectly today and then suddendly i made I new material and it started.

If I change the preview scene via preferences to drapery and then make new materials the warning doesn´t show anymore.

Cheers
JC

Could you just zip up your [MAXWELL2_ROOT]\preview directory and send it to me so I can take a look at your preview scenes?

Sent to jeremy (at) nextlimit (dot) com, is a little heavy because it has custom made preview scenes.

The error in your default.mxs scene is that its preview material has an emitter set to use IES, but with no IES file actually assigned. Your displacement.mxs scene fails here due to a missing map at C:\Documents and Settings\[...]\Disp scene\Background.jpg. emitter_ies.mxs fails when previewing any material lacking an emitter, since it has no other light sources. All of the other scenes seem to work fine.

So, I'm not sure what could be causing that 'no disk in the drive' message to be shown. Perhaps try fixing up those scenes and see if it changes anything. I'd also try rebooting the machine, since it seems like a message that would be coming from Windows.

You were right, I had many problems with my preview scenes and the biggest problem was when I installed the new update I just replaced the preview folder the new one for the old one that I had and as I should had known already, older scenes give errors with the new versions. Now everything works again.

Thanks for your time and support :)

Cheers
