Maxwell for Cinema 4D
Version 2.6.10 Release Notes

This is a minor compatibility update.

Changes
  • Compiled for Maxwell Render 2.6.10.
  • Added IES Intensity parameter to the IES emitter UI.
  • IES emitters may now be used on any object.
  • Referenced MXMs are now copied in Pack & Go.
  • Cinema Luminance textures are now written to HDR format.
  • Cached viewport textures now check file last-write time.
Experimental
  • This version of the plugin will directly translate RealFlow for Cinema 4D Plugin objects (i.e. RealFlow Mesh Importer, RealFlow Particle Importer, RealFlow SD Animation) into Maxwell Render Extension objects, rather than writing the geometry they generate in Cinema as standard mesh objects. This requires the most recent version (if it is released yet) of the RealFlow plugin in order to function correctly. As a result, and because it is very new and experimental, the feature is disabled by default, and may be enabled by deleting the "rfignore" file, found in the main plugin folder.

Hi JD

so glad the luminance channel gets converted now. Already fumbled around a bit and found that there´s no difference in the resulting hdri when having the luminance at 100% 200% 400% in the c4d material. Tried that in the c4d luminance colour field and in the "Texture" slot with colour shader, gradient etc. So in the end I still cannot get a super bright emmiter from c4d other than with texture baking tag?

Cheers,
Roger

When using IES lights (both c4d proprietary lights and mesh emmiters) the multilight export only works with luminance only. Activating the colour also results in black IES multilights. Is that a correct behaviour?

On the luminance texture > HDR question, I have hooked up the lum channel brightness to the emitter's intensity value for the next build. Regarding IES vs. Color Multilight, this is an engine issue, not related to the plugin.

some more regarding materials/luminance conversion:

- alpha channel wont be converted with the c4d "emitter" material (no matter whether c4d material also has diffuse (= color) channel enabled or not)
- material wont convert at all if only value in luminance is given (unlike with diffuse (color) where a value is sufficient)
- when color in c4d material is also checked it converts to mxm but no bsdf is created

Hi JD

the content browser makes c4d crash every time I try to view the files in the maxwell\library\objects\lights folder. A Message is saying that it is maxwell plugin that causes c4d to crash.
The primitives folder shows properly...

I'm not able to reproduce this here, but I think those files are from a quite old version of Maxwell. So, a couple things: first, go to your Cinema preferences "_bugreports" folder (see the Open Preferences Folder... button in the Cinema preferences page to locate it), delete the contents of the folder, and then reproduce the crash, in order to guarantee that the _BugReport.txt file contains information about the this crash and not another. Then, send me that file, so I can check if any it contains any useful information. Second, try using File > Merge to open each of the MXS files in the Maxwell /lights folder, in order to see if there is a particular one that is causing the problem.
