converting materials with luminance

Hi again
I find it very annoying that I cannot convert my luminance channel of a c4d material to maxwell. first of all luminance channel wont convert at all. when I copy the shader to color channel it converts but if loaded into the emitter texture channel of the maxwell material everything looks funny colorful. only when that map is converted to exr it will show normal results (having lost almost all the dynamic of course)
Could this please be fixed? Or how could I do better?
Cheers,
Rogurt

Which version of Cinema are you using? If a Cinema material's Luminance channel is enabled, it should produce an emitter Maxwell material, and if there is an HDR texture in that channel, it should be put in the Maxwell emitter's MXI/HDR texture. So, if you could send me a Cinema file (jeremy at nextlimit dotcom) where Luminance is not converted to a Maxwell emitter, that would be good.
As far as loading an RGB image into a Maxwell emitter, you can't do that -- Maxwell only renders HDR formats in emitters. Currently, you will find a warning printed in the console when you try to do that, but I'll see about putting up an error dialog in the future.

I am using c4d R 12.048
mailed an example file to you

Any news about the c4d->mxm luminance converting bug?
Still if I have a shader (lets say a gradient) in c4d material luminance channel and convert it to mxm the result is black with no texture in the "image emission texture" slot...

That's not a bug, you have to use an HDR image format in the luminance channel texture.

Do we understand each other? I want to set up a c4d material in c4d app. In the luminance channel I would put a shader NOT a texture. I have it maybe a gradient shader. Then I would hit the "convert material to mxm" button and see what the result is (namely a black mxm with no baked procedural in it).
Other channels like diffuse behave as expected (while the baked result is of course no HDRI format). So why do I have to work around that with the luminance channel and bake the texture with c4d texture bake tag? With a bunch of light emitting objects in a scene this workaround gets a little tedious.

I thought you meant there was a bug. Baking shaders to HDR formats from the plugin is not supported, but I will see what I can do about changing that.

Good to hear that...
