Maxwell for Cinema 4D
Version 2.5.1.7 Release Notes

This will be a minor update for the current release, version 2.5.1.6.

Changes:
  • Added support for rendering from the command-line.
  • Added support for rendering from code (C++/Python/C.O.F.F.E.E/etc.).
  • MXM Gallery Import now uses MXED Preferences path when appropriate.
  • Setting the sun direction via Sun Expression tag now works in Maxwell Fire.
  • Added animation support for many logically-animatable Scene parameters.
  • Added support for exporting Cinema IES lights as Maxwell IES lights/materials.
Fixes:
  • A hang could occur on OSX in 64-bit mode, in certain circumstances.
  • Maxwell .SKY files were not being read into the Scene Object correctly.
  • Image Based Lighting viewport display was scaling differently than Maxwell.
  • MXM Gallery Import was not fixing texture paths in all possible cases.
  • Opening an MXS file with no Override material set resulted in a crash.

looks like you've had your big patch day yesterday, JD. :)
Interesting to see on how many plugins you're working at the same time.

Thanks for the implementation of IES, now I just have to test it... :)

Please do. :) Keep in mind though, your scene scale -- IES intensity in Maxwell cannot be scaled like in Cinema, so you may easily build an unrealistically-large scene where the IES look fine in Cinema due to their output being scaled, but where they appear to be completely under-powered once exported to Maxwell.

Hi all,
Thanks for this update, but the camera controls are broken with FIRE.
In the OM the camera active icon doesn´t update the FIRE window and all the camera controls neither (Focal, aperture, film offset, etc..)

Cheers
JC

PS.
C4D R10.1, win Xp 32

Thanks, I see that too. Can you confirm that any changes you make in the Cinema Camera parameters do show up the next time the camera is updated? For example, if you change the ISO, scrub the timeline, etc.

The maxwell camera tag updates as should be using FIRE, and if I delete the camera tag FIRE updates to the Scene Object default exposure.

Cheers
JC

Thanks -- I changed things somewhat to allow for listening to changes in sun expressions, the timeline, etc. -- I just have to go back in and fix it so we are once again detecting when parameters have been changed in the active Cinema Camera object.

NP.
Can you explain a little (mini tutorial) how to use the sun expression now?

Cheers
JC

Its use has not changed -- if there is a light with a sun expression in the scene, it will override whatever date/time may be set in the Scene Object. What has changed is that if you animate the sun expression, it will now update in Maxwell fire when you animate the document.

Hi JC, this should be working as expected again in 2.5.1.8.
