Can't get ground plane to render.

Wow...latest release 2.5.1 is amazing. Great Work!

Here's an image...fooling around with Poser and MW -- haven't played with either for a while. Character is brought into C4D from Poser -- it seems to render right out of the "box" without much effort. When I try to add a ground plane, however, the ground plane doesn't render. Tried applying C4D material and MW material -- still doesn't render.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Here's an image.

It looks like the plane is something that came with the model, correct? Can you check that there are no error messages printed in the Cinema console during export?

The plane did not come in with the model, I created it in C4D so there is a combination of the character import and then adding the plane once in Cinema.

I don't see any indication of problem with the plane...checked "console" dialog box from render and do not see any warnings to indicate a problem.

Interestingly, when I export the scene from C4D into Studio using "Export to Studio", the scene exports fine and the plane shows up and renders.

Exported from C4D to Studio via "Export to Studio".

Not having any luck reproducing this here yet. If you replace the girl with a simple cube, does the issue still occur?

There is something strange happening with the file.

I can turn the poser figure off and the cube can be turned on, I then turn the cube off, and turn the figure on, but the cube stays on in Fire, but is not visible in the main viewport, but the figure is.

I'm wondering if an Interposer plugin that I'm using with C4d might be causing issues?

I will see what happens with a new file as this just might be this particular file.

Here's a screen grab showing the figure in the main viewport and the cube in Fire.

The cube is turned off in C4D but still renders in Fire, the poser figure shows up in Main viewport but does not render in fire. However, when I export to Render, the figure renders correctly and the cube is not visible which is correct.

are you not refreshing fire after changing geometry?

it's a fairly obvious point that could be missed, but yes, I am refreshing. it's almost as if the cache is not emptying.

The next question, then, would be: are you able to reproduce this with no 3rd-party plugins installed? I'll try to download a trial version of that plugin and see how it works here.

Also, what version of Cinema are you on? It looks like 10.5 or so.

I think the issue is with Interposer Pro and not Poser. I'm using the trial version of Interposer Pro. Without getting too far into it, PoserPro 2010 has a data exchange plugin (Poserfusion) that
works with Cinema -- it does a great job of getting a Poser figure into Cinema, but if you try to use Fire or Render, it doesn't recognize the materials (from what I can tell) Interposer, a separate and competing data translator will import Poser into Cinema and seems to work with Fire and Render right out of the box with the materials already assigned in Poser.

Cinema 10.5
Poser Pro 2010
InterPoser Pro (trial)

So far, I'm unable to reproduce this using the Interposer plugin. I'm also not able to reproduce any loss of materials; it looks like Interposer creates the necessary materials when the figure is inserted into the model, and they are showing up fine here in renderings. Can you try with a different figure to check if the issues are specific to this one?

Thanks for looking at it, I will try with another figure.

Is it possible to get Fire to recognize the Poser model and materials using the PoserFusion plugin?

Okay, I had reversed the issue -- you are not having these problems with Interposer, but rather with Poserfusion. In that case, I really have no idea, as I did not give Poser my credit card info and download 8GB worth of their app/assets -- I was just using Interposer and a free Poser model I located online.

Can you zip and send me a Cinema model where you've imported a model using Poserfusion, or is it required to actually have that plugin installed for the model to work?

Wasn't suggesting purchasing all that trouble.

I originally tried Poserfusion and had no luck with materials and Cinema/Fire combination -- maybe there is a way for it to work. Since I had no luck using Poserfusion, I then tried InterPoser on a lark and stumbled on that it can actually work and I quickly had some results with Fire in Cinema. I've got both plugins in Cinema.

Did you use default settings for the Poser model import using InterPoser -- I'm having trouble duplicating the success I had yesterday.

I think you need the PoserFusion plugin to make it work in Cinema -- but I will send you a file anyway. Honestly, I'd work with either plugin that works -- for anyone using Poser Pro 2010, you get the Cinema plugin with purchase.

Could you be more specific regarding what you mean by having trouble? Not being familiar enough with InterPoser to know which settings one might want to change, yes, I'm using the default ones, and everything appears to be working as expected. I can move joints around and such, with materials/model being rendered correctly.
