Hi all,

I´m trying to use an HDR for background and when I hit Fire it says: Error reading bitmap... , but when I launch the render there is no problem at all.
This doesn´t happen all the time.
If I relaunch C4D this problem dissapear :?

Cinemaxwell 2.5.1.6, C4D R10.1, win xp 32

Cheers
JC

Does it seem related to a particular HDR?

Looks like is related with the file size, if is bigger than 20mb give the error, I tried with a fresh one from http://www.openfootage.net/ and no luck, but if I load one of 5mb it render without problem.

What happens when you convert it to a .mxi?

I tried testing with one of these HDRs, and though it takes a long time to load, it does load. The one I tried was this (the file is named OpenfootageNETgaragehigh.hdr):
Though I am testing with 32-bit Cinema R10.5, I am on 64-bit Windows 7; perhaps on 32-bit Windows you are running out of memory?

@zoppo: thanks, I´m away from work this week, but when I get back I´ll try.

@JD: I just tried it and it load without problem.
I been wondering about the out of memory but because I can launch the render without problem I don´t know until what point can be out of memory an I haven´t see any out of memory message. As I said this is very very random sometimes with HDR of 40mb only. Sorry I can´t reproduce a step by step if I manage to do it I´ll let you know.

Cheers

When just exporting the MXS, your large HDR is obviously not required to be loaded into memory in the Cinema process. So, it is expected that you should be able to export much larger MXS files than you can directly render in Maxwell Fire. With 64-bit, this is not the case, since you will only really run out of memory when the machine's physical limit has been reached -- it no longer matters which process is using it, since any given process can be as large as necessary.

My guess is that your issue is not related to memory -- I would expect you to crash if you ran out. I cannot say this for sure though, since I do not know how the engine handles this internally.

That´s the thing, that I don´t get any memory message and if I load a "lighter" HDR the Fire render it right away without closing C4D or anything.

If I manage to reproduce a scene file I´ll send it to you.
