Hi all,
Is there a possibility to add this function?

Cheers

Almost everything is possible, but this is not a really trivial thing to do. So I'd want to ask first of all, what scenario is making it necessary for you? That is, how are you getting these duplicate materials?

Thanks for your reply,
I use to copy objects from different files (premade 3D models library) into the one that I´m working on, and sometimes this objects share same materials like scratch chrome, and at the end my file have at least 5 or more duplicate materials.
I know that I can manually get rid of this selecting texture tags and asign only one copy and then remove unused materials, I just ask because I like to keep the file and material list clean, is not like this is disturbing my workflow or creating conflicts in my files. :)

Cheers
JC

PS. is funny because sometimes (very rare) Remove duplicate materials works  , but don´t quote me in that.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that the need for this wasn't being caused by some other problem that should be fixed instead. But what you describe is the normal operation.

If you use Cinema's Remove Duplicate Materials immediately after inserting the new objects, it might work. It works here if I File > Merge the same file into the existing file.

I'll put it on my list to try to implement a scriptable function for this.
