#311240
Jeremy,

when using an emitter material in combination with a polygon selection the emitter doesn't work.

What I did to narrow it down:
- create a sphere
- convert it to polygons
- create a polygon selection, name it whatever
- create 2 maxwell materials; 1 diffuse, 1 emitter
- assign the emitter to the object, the diffuse to the polygon selection
- try to render it with 'None' environment

It doesn't matter which material is assigned to the selection - it doesn't work. (tried the materials exchanged and assigned the diffuse to the object and the emitter to the selection.)

Maxwell Render says:
ERROR: - There are no light sources in the scene (emitters, sky, IBL). The render will be black.
ERROR: - Render Failed

Yes, that is an engine limitation - emitters are not supported in multi-material scenarios. If the emitter is on the selection, you should see a message in the console: 'error @ multi-mat object 'Cube' (illegal emitter)'. I see that the same message is not printed if the emitter is assigned to the object a non-emitter to the selection - I'll see if I can also print the message in that case.

There will be two different messages from now on:

- error @ multi-mat object 'Cube' (illegal non-emitter selection on emitter object)
- error @ multi-mat object 'Cube' (illegal emitter selection on non-emitter object)

Hopefully that makes things a bit clearer.
