PaintFX Maxwell Hair Segmented shading

Is this expected shading? Am I in too close?

This looks like a bug in the hair extension itself, I'll forward your scene to the developer. Thanks for the scene.

Also I noticed when I accidentally translated the hair clump that it appears in the new location in the viewport and in the original location in the Maxwell render submitted from the plugin. Not sure if that's expected or not but it confused me for a bit. I thought I had somehow set an offset in my camera or something.

Same general issue only this time I attached an emitter to the hair.
Shades smooth with car paint on it.
Emits light smoothly in FIRE Draft but not Production
Renders as above when used as an emitter. Maxwell 4 / Maya 2017
