there is no longer the Possibility in the lights of maya to upload a custom design? (Custom Geometry)

No, we removed that because it was superfluous in the new emitter model. Spot emitters in 3.1 ignore the geometry they are assigned to and behave as if they are assigned to a sphere, because that's the only way to get correct lighting from them. We could have kept the feature for point lights, but it's much easier to just use a MXS reference if you need this.

so now how can I do? I usually use all lights with external geometry and the mesh that should emit light named with the suffix "emitter" ...
