Hi all,

I've installed the 2.6 app with the 2.6.17 plugin but get the following error in maya 2012 Hot fix 4(on the mac):

// Error: line 1: Plug-in, "maxwell" was compiled against too old a version of the Maya API and is thus incompatible with the current Maya version. (maxwell) //

cheers,

Steve

Did you install hotfix 4 recently? Did the previous version of the plug-in work?

yeah, just installed the Hotfix for 2012.
The 2011.5 version of Maxwell is not working either after this install.

I've installed the hotfix now on a clean system and the plug-in loads OK. Can you check if Maya is trying to load it from /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/2012/plug-ins? This path should be displayed in the plug-in manager above the plug-in itself. If the path is correct, check if the file maxwell.bundle located in that directory is 5,568,224 bytes, please.

The plugin manager is seeing the plugin in:

/Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins

although I've copied this to the 2012/plug-ins folder too.

The file size is 10,955,816 bytes
and dated Nov 1 3.39 pm

That's the 2011 plug-in, so 2012 won't be able to load it. If you've copied that file in the 2012/plug-ins directory, you've overwritten the 2012 plug-in with the 2011 version there too.

You shouldn't have any files in /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins, because there's no way to differentiate between Maya versions using that folder. Remove the bundle file from there (and any other Maxwell plug-in files you might have copied in /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/scripts and /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/icons) and run the plug-in installer again. The installer should put the files in the directories with explicit version numbers in their names, and it should work OK after that.

PS: also, make sure /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins isn't actually a link to /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/2011/plug-ins or whatever, it should just be an empty directory.
