create layer override

Hi,
Is there a problem with the layer override for Maxwell? I've created a new layer and tried to apply a layer over ride to the 'hidden from camera' attribute and it crashes every time. I tried on a fresh scene as well and same problem. How ever if I tick the 'hidden from camera' it works fine.
Cheers,
Bryan

What crashes and when? Which version of Maya and on which OS?
I've tested it now and it seems to work OK. The only quirk is that you have to tick the box once so that the attribute gets created (the custom Maxwell flags don't exist by default, so that they don't add unnecessary bloat to the scene). Before that, there's no "create layer override" option in the right-click menu.

Maya 2011 sp1 on win7 sp1, the maxwell plugin is 2.5.12.
Maya crashes when I right click, create layer override on the objects shape node maxwell tab, in my case I'm trying to hide object from camera.

I can right-click and get the create layer override without having to tick the box first. I'm doing this on another layer besides the masterLayer, is this your setup as well? Oddly enough I can click the box on and then right-click create layer override without crashing. I then have to go through and turn it off on the other layers, but I've had issues selecting things this way in Maya before with layers and them doing wonky things. Although this might have changed as I haven't done that in a few years.
cheers,
Bryan

I figured it out, it's a long-standing bug in Maya which was finally fixed in 2012 (I wasn't getting it because I used 2012 for my test). It doesn't check if the attribute actually exists, so it crashes when you try to add an override on an attribute which hasn't yet been created. Unfortunately there's not much I can do to work around it.
Anyway, you don't need to uncheck the flag in all the other layers. Check it, uncheck it, create layer override, check it again. The first check creates the attribute and it stays created after you uncheck it, so it should work.

Ahh great, well good to know. I've found that if you check it, then create layer-override it works. You just have to go down to your master layer and turn it off and it works fine. Just more button pushing but it works.
