Maxwell for Maya previews renders not working

Hello,

I am getting the following error when trying to render a shader preview. Using Maya 2011 and the latest plugin but it was also happening on 2.0.36.

First, clicking preview, and the usual mxcl pops up, except it never proceeds...

Image

Then if i close it, the shader ball never updates and the script editor tells me this:

// Error: Cannot render preview for material 'water': cannot read back rendered image. //

Normal rendering works fine, only preview is problematic.

Any ideas?

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same problem.

I'm sorry, somehow I missed this thread when you posted it. Can you check if the preview scene is set to some invalid path in the plug-in options? (Window -> Rendering Editors -> Maxwell Render -> Maxwell Settings)

I am getting the following in the script editor:

// Error: Cannot render preview for material 'maxwellLayeredMaterial12': cannot read back rendered image. //

Preview scene is set to:

C:/Program Files/Next Limit/Maxwell 2/preview/defaultpreview.mxs

That "C:/Program Files/Next Limit/Maxwell 2/preview/" dir is set to read only...

Try to make it Read/Write or move the preview scene to a directory that has R/W attributes.
