OK I d-l the new version for testing, but big problems...

I decided to try the new version before I buy (it's a lot of money to upgrade...)
big problems (using vista X64)
1. Cannot render my 1.7 scenes. I load them to maya, all textures etc. correct... and the moment MR2 starts to render (after voxelization) - it crashes. I cannot use it if all my older scenes make it crash (furniture blocks, wip, etc...)
2. If I make new materials - there are missing buttons from the material attr box: wizard and browse library buttons. Cannot work like that (and I've noticed a thread here about a similar problem in OSX) any help will be nice, I was looking forward to this release but ain't gonna buy it like that
p.s. - about 1-deleting all materials and selecting new ones from scratch fixed that but I think re-making 100's o materials is ridiculous...

To see the import, export, library, gallery and wizard buttons select the "Global Parameters" item in the material tree. They are not visible all the time in order to save some screen space.
I don't think anyone has a small resolution display today... save place ?! I can't find it, I don't know there to select the "global parameters" and don't want to do extra click for every material ?! cannot find neither regular wizrad, library etc. buttons nor the "ies" tab. Why make things harder ? ppl like to use their mat. library not create a new one every time...

got not reply but I could get the "wizard" button in the "maxwell layered material". Tried to d-l a material but the textures remain with their old path and are not found in the project sourceimages folder - don't know where they are at all. How can it be fixed so d-l materials textures will be placed correct and applied to the material after the d-l?

We don't try to make things harder - actually, we've made many things a lot easier in the new version of the plug-in. Obviously, it takes a short while to get used to the new interface, but if you start out thinking we've got something against our users, it's going to take longer.
The reasons why the old material doesn't have import buttons anymore are explained
here. Don't use the old node for newly created materials, always use the layered material. It's got everything the old material had, plus all the new features of 2.0.
I didn't understand the part about downloaded materials. If you use the gallery browser button to download a material, its textures will be copied to the sourceimages directory in your project, so it should work. How did you download your material?
Could you please send me one of those 1.7 scenes which crash 2.0 when rendering?

sent you the link via PM, maybe some textures are not packed since they are in the maxwell 1 material database installation path

Thank you, I've received the scene and I was able to reproduce the crash. It's going to be fixed in a future engine patch.

Great. Do you know more, like when etc. (I have some projects running that can't wait so I'll not shift to ver. 2 now - I have to finish them first..)

No, sorry, I don't have an estimate. It's not my code, so I don't know what causes the crash and how difficult it is to fix it.

thanx anyway I'll wait. I tried another scene that started to render but the moment I changed something in it (move an object, duplicate something. create new maxwell layered material..) it crashed...

I think I found the bug, if I did well I'm gonna tell you (how about a nice free licence for that....). Hiding an object from the total scene allows maxwell 2 to render old scenes. I tested single objects from a scene and all rendered well. When tried all the scene - crash. Decided to hide an object - and it renders. Try to test it - maybe I solved you a big problem ! + it would be good to turn off instancing...
