Doesn´t Maxwell work with Maya´s textures (checker,noise..)?

Hi,
I just wanted to test the new layered materials and in order to get a quick "mask" between two layers I just chose Maya´s own checker(board) patterns as mask but it didn´t work (I tried noise etc, too...) - then I tried use one of those structures for "Reflectance (0°) just to see if I get any textures out but it didn´t work either. Do I really have to use external files (bitmaps) for textures, masks etc...?

I´m not sure if this worked in 1.7 or if this an issue in the latest Maya plugin for V2...

Thanks,
Marco

Maxwell has never supported procedural textures. The plug-in could bake procedurals into bitmaps, but it's quite a bit of work and there are many things that could go wrong in the process, so we didn't do it.

you can select a mesh and select convert to file texture on a texture node in the Hypershade if you want to use procedurals initially.
