No Maxwell3 plugin for max2011 and below?

I was a bit shocked today as i realized that max2011 isn't supported anymore.
Max2011 is the only version i own and i've no plans to throw more money down the Autodesk road.
Is there any specific reason for not offering a plugin? Or is there anything in the making?
