Maxstart file for Maxwell: mine available for download.

I always found it really annoying have to manually setup starting scenes and make great use of the Maxstart.max files to avoid doing this stuff over and over again.
I have posted my Maxwell version on my blog for anyone interested in grabbing it. It's handy way to start, and has most of the basics covered for you (although you can change whatever you like and resave it to customize your own).

As a bonus I included one of my softbox HDRI images that I map onto emitters. It's a decent one that I use a lot. It's part of a handy little light rig that I also use a lot. Check the blog post and the file for more details. There are versions for Max 2010-2012. Other than those you are on your own
