Hi,
Everytime i try to render from Max (2011 or 2012) a object with a hair and fur modifier apply on it, during the export process, Max crash.
Does anyone have the same problem ?
Is it a known bug ?
I even can't export a .mxs to launch the render within the studio

Seven 64bits / dual Xeon / Quadro 2000 (Windows uptodate, all the drivers too)

Sorry for my english

We know about this crash but we can't reproduce it on our side at all. Do you run Windows as Administrator? If not, try to run Max as Administrator (right click on icon->Run As Administrator) and see if it still crashes.

Can you also send me the crash dump Max generated in your %temp% folder? It should be named 3dsmax_minidump.dmp. bogdan.coroi@gmail.com

Thank you for your quick answer bogdan :o

2 strange points :

1) Here at Work
As architect in my agency, i'm not administrator. Hair and Fur does not crash Max, but it doesn't appear at render. We have identified a problem with the fact that my login as a dot in the name. So a mxs temp file try to be written in C:\Users\STEPHA~1 instead of C:\Users\stephane.name

2) At Home, i'm administrator and run Max as administrator too. Hair and Fur crash Max.

I'll send you the crash dump this evening, because i can't reproduce the crash here at work.

We were supposed to see you yesterday in Paris, but we have to cancelled our meeting very lately. We do apologyze again , and i hope i'll meet you another time.

Thanks

Hello ,
I update this topic because i've the same problem on my dual-xeon platform :
This is NOT a maxwell error :
With multithreading ENABLE on BIOS:
If i put hair&fur on a plane and try to render max crash
If i put hair&fur on a plane trying to export as .mxs max crash
BUT
if i disable multithreading on BIOS :
i put hair&fur on a plane and try to render it is OK
If i put hair&fur on a plane trying to export as .mxs it is OK
i save this .mxs then i enable multithreading in bios and open it in studio ,it is OK .
So this is an 3dsmax plugin error->
Please ,dual-xeon Users ,report your crash HERE.
Thanks.

I can confirm the same issue with multithreading from different configuration (X5570 - X5670 - X5675).
Hairtrix works fine however, pretty strange...
hope it will work soon...

I've seen a long thread in the frenchforum about that problem...
