Do PF source particle instances take really long to export?

Hi.
I'm trying to make some grass using PF Source to scatter grass blades over a plane.
If I don't use instances the scene takes a short time to export even with a high amount of particles (100000); but if I use instances (checking the box in general settings panel) the time to export the scene increases greatly. With 10000 particles it takes around a minute in my system.

Is this behaviour normal? I'm not very used to PF, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Unfortunately, I think that's just how it works. I get significant export slowdown at anything over 50k instances. I tried covering a large lawn with grass blades using the PF source method, but gave up eventually.

I wonder if it could be addressed somehow from plugin side.

The result is looking quite good.

fernando, i've had generally better results using the grass o matic plugin opposed to approach mentioned above.... worth a try if you haven't done so already.

That's a cool plugin, Rusteberg. Very easy to setup though it doesn't produce instances (maybe I'm missing something), right? Anyway I'll keep it in my pocket for fast use.
