Linking for FBX files... This could mean the end of our problems with instances when linking DWGs.

Also, nice videos on the right... Watch them all...

I've installed my Max Design 2011 yesterday, and testing some new features.
First of all, max2011 eats about 400MB RAM by default.
Most big change is the Slate material editor except Toxik.
I'm curious how this works with maxwell material when the new plugin released.
Mihnea, when can we use the plugin of new version? :)

The 2010 plug-in should load and work fine in 2011. We will release a plug-in with explicit support for 2011 soon. The new material editor won't do anything for Maxwell, it's a (weak) copy of the shading network editors seen in other applications (e.g. Hypershade in Maya) and Maxwell doesn't have the concept of a shading network.

Good, because I don't want to learn something new and most of the times useless with any release... You don't fix what is working properly...

I just received my DVD of MAX Design 2011... I will soon have some comments...

...a day after...
Comments....
1. Looks good, too bad it consumes much more RAM
2. The model painting tool is great!
3. The FBX linking and the .SAT import/export is a real gift for revit users... even for us, maxwell users
3. The Composite is impressive but not very useful so I it will have to wait ...
4. Everyone must check the new viewport canvas!!! This is a great tool!

How can I install it manually?

Unfortunatelly what Mihnea said applies only to Max2011 RC2 which was the only Max available for us at the posting time. They explicitly said that Max2010 plugins will work in 2011 but due to some stupid retardation this no longer applies to the final Max2011 release. You have to wait until we release it for 2011 for which I can't give an ETA.

Hi,

After installing the Maxwell plug-in for Max 2011 the DLU or DLM failed to load at startup. Any workaround until you release a new 2011-compatible version? Or am I doing something wrong in the first place? I simply installed Maxwell Max 2.0.27.

well, it's been some time now that 2011 has been out, I have moved on to 2011 completely, and it would really be nice to have something to work with. I would really love to use maxwell, if you get my point....

I would very much appreciate an explanation, why something should be added or changed for the plugin to work in MAX2011... Did you find something so much different from 2010? I am very curious!
Are you getting close to the release?
The reason I ask is because I have 2 projects that I work on inside Revit and I would like to use Revit->FBX->Max->Maxwell... Can someone please tell us if it is coming this week?
