Next Limit Technologies is pleased to announce the release of Maxwell Render 1.1 OSX Universal Binary Edition, which includes native support for OSX Intel machines. It is also a performance and bug-fix release for existing ppc machines so it is highly recommended for all OSX Maxwell Render users. When you install this release it is very important to delete any previous versions from your machine and update your plug-ins to the latest versions to ensure a smooth installation and working process.
Many changes and improvements have been made to the different applications.

GENERAL

• Some of the folders that were previously located inside application packages can now only be found in the Maxwell directory (data and Libs). There is also only one output folder for all applications at the same level.
• The registration process for commercial and educational licenses has been made easier. Just register once from mxstudio; a license.dat copy inside mxcl package is not necessary.
• Rendering performance has increased. It is most noticeable on G5 machines.
• There is also a QuickTime importer for mxm files. It allows you to see mxm previews in Finder windows. You can also use it to see mxm files in some other applications that use QuickTime to preview files (e.g. QuickTime Player; Graphic Converter; etc). You must install it to /Library/Quicktime at the root directory. A restart is needed to use it with Finder.

MXSTUDIO

• Fixed color inconsistencies when using png output.
• Main Window should not disappear under OSX general menu.
• Fixed crash when loading lights from objects library.
• Improved OpenGL and scenes loading performance.
• Info text size and position is now always well-positioned.
• Drag and Drop of materials from Finder is now possible.
• Solved problem with groups of triangles growing when saving.
• Fixed problem with tiff textures.
• Focal information of the camera now always works as it should.

MXED

• Increased font size for better legibility.

The following plug-ins are currently compatible with the Universal Binary Edition: Cinema4D PPC , Maya, FormZ and LightWave 3D.
